Back to College with Happsy

It’s that time of the year again. Your child is getting ready to pack up their stuff and head to college. Maybe you’ve been through this before and your child is gearing up to reunite with their “long lost” college friends or perhaps those “new year, new school” butterflies are beginning to nag them. Either way, you know that once your child gets to school, it means sleeping on a who-knows-how-old mattress and, let’s face it, it’s probably going to be uncomfortable.

So, what are you going to do? Upgrade of course! You have two choices for upgrading: you can add a mattress pad on top of the mattress provided by the college or, if allowed by the school, bring your own. When it comes to upgrading and bringing your own mattress to college, there are a few things you need to be aware of first.

Size Matters

When purchasing a new mattress, make sure know what size the bed frame at your child’s college is. Most college dorms have twin or twin extra-long size beds. This is key because dorms are small and your child will most likely have a to share the space with a roommate. If your child is moving into off-campus housing, however, you might be able to upgrade to something a bit bigger, like a full or queen.

Location is Key

When moving into college for the first time, your child will most likely live in either a dorm or an apartment on campus. If it’s a dorm, there may or may not be an elevator on move-in day. Good news, even if you’re moving your child into a fifth floor dorm room with no elevator, bringing in a Happsy Organic Mattress would be easy. Since it is the only certified organic mattress-in-a-box, it only takes two people to carry and set-up, making it a convenient mattress choice for college life. Other mattresses that are not in a box may take up the whole staircase or worse, not even fit. (Who said thinking inside the box was a bad idea?)

Think About the Alternative

If your child is going to a college where they do not allow you to bring your own mattress, our Happsy Organic Mattress Topper could be the perfect addition to make your child’s bed comfortable and their own.

A simple rule of thumb is to contact the residence hall office and verify that your child can bring their own. They will allow it for certain circumstances, but you should always get permission first.

We hope your college kid has the best year yet! Don’t forget, if you’re a Happsy customer or if you’re still thinking about sleeping organic, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team if you have any questions. We’d love to help you sleep healthy and wake happy.
