Test out these tips for taking your organic lifestyle into another area of your life: the gym!
- Get an Eco-Friendly Water Bottle
What’s the most important item (besides your headphones) you need when you go to the gym? Water! Make sure to purchase a water bottle that you can not only reuse, but also is free of harmful chemicals.
To ensure your bottle is not only friendly to you, but also the environment, make sure it follows these guidelines:
- Non-leaching, meaning does not release chemicals
- Walk to the Gym or Carpool with a Buddy
Instead of driving to the gym, consider taking a walk or jog before hopping in the car. Not only will you get a jumpstart on your workout and save gas, you’ll also reduce your carbon emissions. It’s a win for everyone, including mother nature!
- Wear Organic Workout Clothing
We make our Happsy mattress free of harmful chemicals and with minimal environmental impact. If you sleep and eat organic, why not wear organic? Try to find workout clothes made from these fabrics:
- Organically farmed cotton
Here are some recommended clothing brands for your next sweat sesh:
- Try Organic Laundry Detergent
Find a laundry detergent without all the harmful chemicals. Especially if you or your family have sensitive skin. Look for laundry detergents free of chlorine, phosphates and other artificial additives. The key is to avoid detergents with surfactants, which help water penetrate fabrics and make your clothes smell good. However, these chemicals also give off toxins and can have negative effects on the body. We want your Happsy sheets and pillows to last for as many sleeps as possible!
- Practice on an Organic Yoga Mat
The Happsy team loves adding yoga into their fitness routines, especially before bed or right when they wake up. If we’re not stretching out right on our mattress, it’s important to choose a yoga mat made from organic materials.

- Choose Organic Deodorant
Nobody wants to be the person everyone at the gym is avoiding because their deodorant isn’t working. A common misconception of organic deodorant is that it is incapable of masking smells. There are actually quite a few options that work for keeping you fresh while at the gym.
Look for a deodorant that does not contain aluminum, sulfates and parabens. Additionally, try to find a deodorant that has eco-friendly packaging, whether that’s recycled materials or biodegradable.
