Have you found your Happsy Place?

Find a way to better, healthier sleep or risk long-term effects

Everyone has their own personal happy place. Maybe it’s your laptop and a cappuccino at your favorite coffeehouse, or in your workshop at home, or even neck deep in a tub full of bubbles with the door locked. Wherever it is, your happy place is the one spot where you can escape from the world, even if it’s only for a couple of minutes.

So, if that’s your happy place, what’s your “Happsy Place?”

In our mind, your Happsy Place is anywhere you can stretch out on your 100% organic Happsy mattress.

Your Happsy Place may be an immaculately decorated bedroom with coordinating pillow shams and pleated drapes. Or maybe it’s the guest bedroom that doubles as your office. Or maybe it’s your kid’s room that hasn’t seen the bed fully made since 2015.

Wherever it is, your Happsy Place is where you return to again and again to relax, rest, recharge and prepare for what’s next.

We’ve discussed ways of maximizing your sleep before, all of those tips are still great things you can start doing right away. Because it’s more important than ever for us to get to our Happsy Places. Our brains are cluttered and clogged with worries about student loans, career choices, living arrangements, marriage, starting a family and a hundred other anxieties that keep us awake at night.

In fact, a recent study by the American Psychological Association reported that Millennials feel more stress than any other generation. These 18-33 year olds are starved for sleep, with more than half reporting being regularly kept up at night by “overwhelming worries.”

When you don’t get the recommended seven to nine hours of uninterrupted sleep each night, it can result in more than just blurry eyes and yawns in your afternoon meeting. The long-term effects of sleep deprivation are real and sobering

Caffeine and energy drinks may give you a quick boost, but they can’t replace your body’s need for real restorative sleep. Chronic sleep deprivation can affect your body in profound ways including:

  • Weight gain
  • Weakened immune response
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Impaired judgment
  • Reduced coordination
  • Severe mood swings
  • Increased risk for diabetes and heart disease

Even if you aren’t experiencing chronic health issues right now, you may still feel more stressed, angry, sad and mentally exhausted.

The solution? Find your Happsy Place!

By taking the steps necessary to get a full night’s worth of restorative sleep you can proactively and positively impact your health. Even small changes can have wide-ranging and long-lasting effects.

So, make it happen tonight! Dim the lights, put on your favorite flannel jammies, light some candles, fluff your pillows, grab your preferred sleep partner or do whatever else transforms those four walls into your 100% organic, restful sleeping, beautiful dreaming Happsy Place!
