https://happsy.com/happsy-organic-mattressYou spend a third of your life sleeping. More and more consumers are waking up to the fact that what they’re sleeping on matters (a lot!) and are mattress shopping with more scrutiny than ever before.

Unfortunately, many brands are also catching onto this and going to much greater lengths to greenwash their marketing and conceal the not-so-pretty aspects of their manufacturing process. This all can make shopping mindfully feel like an impossible task.

Luckily, you’re not alone. There are reputable third-party organizations dedicated to doing the research for you and marking products that are safer and healthier for you (and the planet, too!). One of those organizations is the Environmental Working Group (EWG).

We are thrilled to announce that EWG has extended their verification program to include mattresses, too – and Happsy, your trusted organic mattress, is now EWG VERIFIED®. Here’s what that means for you.

What is EWG?

The Environmental Working Group is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment. They conduct research and provide education on various issues, from toxic chemicals in everyday products to environmental sustainability.

Why? There are so many products on the market today made with chemicals that were only introduced the last several decades – chemicals that we now know are linked to serious health issues, such as:

  • Cancer
  • Asthma
  • Allergy sensitizing
  • Birth defects
  • Fertility problems
  • Neurological disorders

And the list goes on. Continuous chemical exposures from products such as shampoos, soaps, cleaners, diapers and mattresses that most of us use every single day are concerning to say the least. Moreover, manufacturers are rarely required to disclose all ingredients on their product packaging and websites.

Without organizations like EWG, this lack of transparency would leave consumers completely in the dark about the products they use daily.

Why mattresses?

You might be wondering why EWG has turned its attention to mattresses. Remember when we said that you spend a third of your life sleeping? Well, do you know what you’re sleeping on?

The reality is that conventional mattresses often contain harmful chemicals and materials that can have adverse effects on both your health and that of the environment. From volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to chemical flame retardants to fiberglass and more, the materials in so many mattresses on the market today pose potential risks to your well-being.

As a brand that prioritizes health and sustainability, Happsy saw an opportunity to lead the way in the mattress industry by offering a safer sleep alternative: the first certified organic bed-in-a-box. Today, as one of the first mattress brands to achieve EWG VERIFIED® status, we are setting a new standard for health, transparency and accountability in mattress manufacturing. And we’re Happsy to do it.

How does Happsy meet the EWG VERIFIED® standard?

Achieving EWG VERIFIED® status is no small feat. It requires meeting a comprehensive set of criteria that prioritize transparency, safety and environmental sustainability. Here's how the Happsy Organic Mattress became EWG VERIFIED®.

Complete Transparency

Transparency is the cornerstone of the EWG VERIFIED® program. Happsy must provide full disclosure of all ingredients used in our mattresses, leaving no room for ambiguity or hidden toxins.

By knowing exactly what goes into our products, consumers can make informed choices about their health and well-being.

Ingredient Safety

Health and safety have always been at the forefront when it comes to the materials that make up our mattresses. EWG assesses the safety of each ingredient, evaluating potential health risks such as carcinogens, reproductive toxins and allergens.

Happsy prioritizes using safer, healthier, EWG-approved materials to ensure a worry-free sleep environment for our customers. (That’s easier on the planet, too!)

Manufacturing Practices

The manufacturing process plays a significant role in the overall safety and quality of a mattress – and responsible manufacturing processes is one of EWG’s criteria for verification.

Happsy adheres to strict manufacturing standards to ensure that our products meet the highest level of safety and performance. From sourcing materials responsibly to implementing rigorous quality control measures, we are committed to delivering a mattress that you can trust.

What other resources does EWG offer?

At Happsy, we believe in the power of education and transparency. EWG does, too! \In addition to the VERIFIED® program, EWG offers a wealth of resources to help consumers make informed choices about the products they use every day, including cleaning products, baby products, and personal care products ranging from skin care to sun care and makeup, fragrance and more. In addition to looking for EWG VERIFIED products, you can search for products and ingredients using their consumer databases and the Healthy Living app

We wholeheartedly support EWG's mission and encourage you to explore their resources to learn more about creating a healthier home environment for you and your family.

To sum it all up, we couldn’t be prouder to announce that our Happsy mattresses are now EWG VERIFIED – and we’re not stopping here! Our promise to you remains that we will continue to prioritize transparency, sustainability, health and innovation in everything we do.
